I’m a cinematographer & colorist located in Sydney, Australia. My first foray into production was watching my Dad in the late 80’s. He traveled the world on documentaries, built studios, edit suites, OB vans, and seemingly had a lot a fun doing it. To be honest at the time I thought it was all pretty boring.
Occasionally I was used in videos which was more fun then sitting around watching. Around this time I started dabbling with some editing using his VHS dubbing room ( I wasn’t allowed to touch the edit suites!). When my daughter was born I did the typical “New Dad” thing and bought a new camera to capture everything!. A mate I played music with and shot and edited for a living said “..you know that’s got a 1080p video option. You should flick it over to video and give it a go”. Not really knowing anything other then that I flicked over the switch…
